Originally from Northern California, where he first earned a reputation as one of Silicon Valley’s top residential realtors, Filice moved to Los Angeles in 2001 and purchased a condo in the historic, but then unfashionable, West Hollywood high-rise building known as Sierra Towers. It was this fortuitous move, together with his knowledge and passion for real estate, which launched his career as the premiere luxury high-rise broker in Los Angeles.
Born in Santa Clara, Filice was intrigued by architecture and interior design from an early age. He earned his real estate license at the age of 18 and began hosting open houses for busy realtors during his years at Santa Clara University, where he received his B.A. in Commerce. Following graduation, Filice honed his skills in multidisciplinary finance and accounting, with a specialization in high wealth real estate taxation, at global accounting behemoth KPMG.
After immense success in the Silicon Valley real estate market, Filice set his sites on Los Angeles and joined forces with Sotheby’s International Realty – one of the largest and most prestigious brands in international real estate. Under the Sotheby’s banner, he assembled The Filice Group, a hand-picked collection of top-performing agents he presently leads in generating phenomenal sales year after year.
Filice made his biggest imprint in Los Angeles with the highly-successful, widely-publicized re-branding of the Sierra Towers. With a grand history of residents from old Hollywood legends to world-famous politicians, the 1964 modernist Sierra Towers had fallen into neglect and was drastically undervalued. After purchasing there, Filice’s vision of transforming the high-rise into a sexy, chic and fashion-forward building for the young, successful and influential quickly became reality.
On the heels of a major renovation and Filice’s strategic re-marketing, he sold scores of units to major celebrities, young entrepreneurs and internationally-known tastemakers. A December 2005 Los Angeles Times article quotes residents referring to Filice as the “velvet rope” realtor for the Towers. It’s his unique style of proactive, under-the-radar client representation and extensive rolodex of high net worth prospects that helps him expeditiously, and privately, connect his properties with potential buyers.
In 2008, Filice broke the Top 100 of Wall Street Journal/Lore Magazine’s annual Top 400 List of Most Successful Realtors by Sales Volume. He attributes much of his success to his unconventional, yet sophisticated, approach to brokering deals in Los Angeles. Filice methodically identifies and aggressively pursues the right buyers while consistently recruiting prospects that make sense for his clientele, as opposed to employing the ubiquitous, garden-variety marketing tactics that ultimately prove ineffective in today’s marketplace.
In addition to specializing in California’s high-end market, Filice actively works with international clientele, acquiring and selling properties on their behalf throughout the United States. When Filice is not working he actively participates in environmental and community charitable events.
